The Poultry Research and Training Centre facility, located near the Futala lake, Nagpur which is a vital part of teaching, research and extension program in poultry science. The state-of-the-art facility dedicated to basic and applied research in broilers, layers, native birds and other avian species to support the development of new, sustainable and innovative in Poultry Science. PRTC also provides support to other departments of university and colleges. The facility includes three tier layer-cage shed with a combined capacity of approx 600 laying hens. The cage shed is equipped with a unique direct-cage ventilation system that provides a very uniform environment. The facility also has one floor-pen shed for maintaining broiler chickens on litter in a total of 18 pens to accommodate approx 250 birds. The pen sizes can be varied and can be modified to meet different experimental needs. PRTC, NVC, Nagpur recognize the Sree Sai Poultry Solutions (SSPS) commercial broiler farm as a research facility which is 25 km away from the college campus. SSPS is equipped with a commercial feed mill facility with all kinds of basic infrastructure and technical manpower to conduct industry-oriented research trials. SSPS has a capacity of 2000 hundred birds (Approx 57 replicates of 35 birds each) to conduct the research trials on broiler birds. The college laboratory section includes an egg storage room, equipment for processing eggs and poultry, hatchery machine, and feed mixing equipment. NVC college has excellent facilities for laboratory testing of immunological parameters, microbiological tests and Product technology facility for research purpose. The facility also provides opportunities for interested undergraduate and graduate students to gain hands-on research experience with poultry. PRTC R&D team includes scientists from college with diverse backgrounds and experience. Each team member has an area of specialization in poultry, pathology, nutrition, microbiology, public health, pharmacology, physiology, product technology etc. This allows us to find novel solutions by working collaboratively on complex industry challenges. Our work is coordinated by a dedicated team of research and farm technicians.
